East Meets West (Pittsboro)
The Community House in Pittsboro was the perfect place for citizens of East and West Pittsboro precincts to come together for a joint meeting to socialize, brainstorm, and meet a few candidates. The meeting took place on Saturday afternoon, May 9. Meet and Greet with Chatham County Sheriff Candidate Steve Maynor
On May 7, voters had an opportunity to participate in a “meet and greet” event with Chatham County candidate for Sheriff, Steve Maynor. Steve currently serves as Chief Deputy for the Sheriff’s Office and has served in law enforcement in Chatham County for more than 20 years. Kids Over Corporations Rally
On May Day 2026, Chatham County educators joined thousands of educators and their families, friends, and supporters from all over North Carolina on Halifax Mall in the government complex in Raleigh. Sponsored by the NC Association of Educators, the theme of the rally and march was “Kids Over Corporations”. On the evening of April 19, Governors Club was the sight of our major fundraiser for 2026 entitled “Chatham Dems Fight Back!”, where we were treated to presentations by Lt. Gov. No Kings III in Pittsboro
Thank you to everyone who came to the No Kings #3 rally in Pittsboro! It was a beautiful gathering with an enthusiastic, engaged crowd, estimated at 1,500 by the Sheriff's department. 2026 Democratic County Convention
Chatham County Democrats held our annual county convention on Saturday, March 21 at Pittsboro Elementary School. Candi-Dating 2026
On the morning of February 7, 2026, Holy Trinity Church in Siler City was the site of a speed dating event for voters and candidates who will be on our Democratic ballots in the upcoming primary election. Called Candi-Dating, the event allowed each candidate to rotate between tables of voters who could hear the candidate’s presentations and then ask questions and make comments. ICE Overreach Protest
Protests on the circle at the Historic Courthouse in Pittsboro normally take place on Saturdays, but with the weather forecast, it was held a day early on Friday, January 30. The primary topic on protest signs was ICE overreach in states all over the country, including North Carolina. The event was organized by Indivisible Chatham. Many Chatham Democrats added their voices to the protest.


"Walk for Peace" Leaves Pittsboro to Eventually Arrive In Washington, DC
On the third and final day of their visit to Chatham County, the Buddhist monks exited Pittsboro and headed to Apex and beyond. This is day 90 of their 2,300 mile “Walk for Peace” from Ft. Worth, Texas to Washington, DC. Early in the morning, the Chatham Bridge Brigade bid the monks farewell as they continue their journey on foot. Many Hands Make Light Work
Under the leadership of Joanna Hedrick, volunteers made a series of banners to show love and support for the Buddhist monks who are on a 2,300 mile “Walk for Peace” from Ft. Worth, Texas to Washington DC. The monks’ journey has captured the imagination of the nation as they bring their message of mindfulness and peace along the way. January 21, 2026 On day 88 of their 2,300 mile “Walk for Peace” from Ft. Worth, Texas to Washington, DC., the Buddhist Monks ended their day in Siler City, NC at Jordan-Matthews High School where they were greeted by and spoke to more than 1,000 people. The monks were presented with pins and a proclamation by Siler City Mayor Donald Matthews, Jordan Matthews Principal Adam Lutterloh, and Chatham County Sheriff Mike Roberson.


Chatham Dems Join Saturdays at the Courthouse
Many people around the country have felt compelled to speak out against the violent actions of ICE or the military takeover of Venezuelan oil resources. Chatham Bridge Brigade-12/21/2025
On Saturday afternoon, December 20, 2025, the Chatham NC Bridge Brigade joined 19 other teams of volunteers around the Triangle to hold banners and flags in support of our country and our democracy. More than a dozen volunteers enjoyed the supportive honking horns and friendly waves as motorists drove under the Chatham Park Way bridge over US 64.


Wishes for the New Year
Indivisible Chatham held their year-end “Speak Out” event where demonstrators had the opportunity to express their hopes for the New Year. The event was held on Saturday morning, December 20, 2025 at the Chatham County Historic Courthouse in Pittsboro, NC. Dozens of protesters, including plenty of Chatham Democrats, participated.


First Day of Election Filing
Across North Carolina, December 1, 2025 was the first day of filing for candidates for elected office. Chatham County Democrats came to the Board of Elections office to file their paperwork. In a surprise move, Chatham County Sheriff Mike Roberson announced that he will be a candidate for county commissioner. Chief Deputy, Steve Maynor filed as a candidate for Chatham County Sheriff. Signs of Fascism Comes to Siler City
The cold and windy conditions of late morning on November 11 didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of more than 20 volunteers who met on Hwy 64 in Siler City to share the signs of fascism with passing motorists. Chatham County Democrats were among those who participated. The event was organized by the Chatham Bridge Brigade and Engaged Durhamites for Democracy.


Goldston Precinct Meeting
On Thursday, November 6th, Leader Robert Reives joined about 20 Chatham Dems for a precinct meeting in Goldston. While enjoying all the Democratic victories from Tuesday night, he talked about the work that lies ahead in 2026, educating family, friends, and neighbors about what is going on in Washington and Raleigh. The House Select Committee on Redistricting met for a final committee debate, public hearing, and vote on the afternoon of October 21, 2025. The committee voted on party lines to advance Senate Bill 249, AN ACT TO REALIGN THE NORTH CAROLINA CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICTS to the full House for a final vote on during the session on Wednesday, October 22.
