School Supplies for Pittsboro

What’s better than brand new back-to-school supplies? How about brand new back-to-school supplies with a bounce house and a slide thrown in for fun!

Add to that a great button making station for the kids and election information and voter registration for the grownups and you’ve got the whole package.

To complete the Chatham County Democratic Party school supplies drive and distribution for this fall, the Chatham Dems followed up last week’s giveaway in Siler City with another giveaway in Pittsboro at the Pittsboro Boys and Girls Club on the morning of Saturday, August 15.

A few statistics about the donations and distribution efforts:

• 115 individual donors of school supplies

• 580 book bags were collected (plus all kinds of support supplies)

• 96 recipients at the Siler City Boys and Girls Club

• 170 recipients at Siler City CORA

• 162 recipients at the Pittsboro Boys and Girls Club

• 428 total recipients

• 270 books were collected and donated to students

Book bags, notebooks, and related school supplies that were left over were donated to Pittsboro Elementary and Horton Middle Schools.
