First Day of Election Filing

Across North Carolina, December 1, 2025 was the first day of filing for candidates for elected office.

Chatham County Democrats came to the Board of Elections office to file their paperwork. In a surprise move, Chatham County Sheriff Mike Roberson announced that he will be a candidate for county commissioner. Chief Deputy, Steve Maynor filed as a candidate for Chatham County Sheriff.

Fortunately we have the opportunity to reelect Representative and Democratic Leader Robert Reives and incumbent candidates for County Commissioner Katie Kenlan and Franklin Gomez Flores. All three filed for reelection.

In addition to the candidates, family members, along with County Commission Chair Karen Howard, former County Commissioner Diana Hales, and Chatham County Democratic Chair Sue Blalock were present to support and celebrate the Democratic candidates.
